Match on Action

Match On Action

Matching on action is editing filming techniques as well as video editing, where the film cuts from one shot straight to another shot that matches the angle. It gives the impression that time is replaying  in more detail. These shots in reality can be taken hours apart, but are put together with precision to ensure that the transition is undetectable.
This is a shot showing a character followed by the character's movements concluding in the next shot, but in the example below it shows this in reverse. This shows you the action up front, and as you cant see any faces it adds suspense and enigma to the shot. Another reason why it is also used is to emphasise importance of a certain action that is unfolding.

  1. This needs improving - you don't explain point about action - the action of the 'action match'. You need to prove that you understand the technique and the reasons for its existence. Revise your notes again and re-post straight away.
